SCOTUS Blog
Led by Amy Howe, SCOTUSblog is devoted to covering the U.S. Supreme Court comprehensively, without bias and according to the highest journalistic and legal ethical standards. The site is provided as a public service.
Originally founded in 2002, SCOTUSblog was later acquired by Dispatch Media, Inc. in 2025. For over 20 years, our staff and contributors have included talented lawyers, law professors, and journalists covering the court with clarity and precision.
SCOTUSblog generally reports on merits cases before the court at least three times: before argument, after argument, and after the decision. We note all of the paid cert petitions that raise a legal question we believe may interest the justices; we give additional coverage to particularly significant petitions and emergency applications. For the merits cases and the petitions we cover, we provide access to all the briefs.
On each day that the court announces decisions, we host our popular live blog feature with real-time breaking news coverage. Readers join us from around the world to have their questions answered and hear first how the justices rule.
Beyond the court’s docket, we provide significant coverage and analysis of nominations to the court, special projects and symposia, and coverage of the justices’ financial disclosures. We maintain a calendar of the court’s schedule. We also regularly publish statistics relating to the court’s term.
SCOTUS Shadow Docket Tracker
A new resource that the Brennan Center has published, “Supreme Court Shadow Docket Tracker: Challenges to Trump Administration Actions,” tracks cases on the Supreme Court’s shadow docket that relate to the administration’s policies, and notes whether the Court has decided to rule in favor of the administration; whether the majority offered any reasoning for its decision; and notable commentary from justices about the use of the shadow docket.
Judicial Nominees Analysis and Tracker
This resource is produced by Alliance for Justice, which stands as the premier nonprofit organization committed to fortifying the progressive movement through its unwavering focus on federal and state courts and building power by providing unique resources to maximize nonprofits’ advocacy capacity. Its resource offers information, analysis and status of current and former judicial nominees to the federal bench.
Trump Administration Litigation Tracker
This resource is provided by Lawfare, a non-profit multimedia publication dedicated to timely analysis of thorny legal and policy issues through free, non-subscription-based content. It features a table that tracks legal challenges to the Trump administration’s executive actions, as well as cases on behalf of the Trump administration to enforce them.
Trump Administration Litigation Tracker
You can sort the table by clicking the column titles and query keywords using the search box in the top left of the table. The table has the case name, what executive action is being challenged, the status of the case, and a summary of the litigation being brought.
Monitor Status of Trump's Big Beautiful Bill
Now that the Trump Administration’s reconciliation bill, aka the Big Beautiful Bill Act, passed the House, Courts Matter Illinois thought it would be valuable to check in on the bill's status through the lens of the courts. There are two provisions in H.R. 1 that several legal experts have claimed threaten voters and “the rule of law.” Keep up with H.R. 1 progress here.
